School Rentals

At camp we believe in the positive growth and development of young people. Camps have an incredible opportunity to be safe environments for kids to get outside what is normal, and to grow in community, communication, personally and socially, and in cognitive abilities. We like to boil it down to one word RESPECT.

Respect Yourself

We want to encourage youth to respect themselves by first creating an environment where they feel comfortable to be themselves. We don’t care where they come from or who they are, we want to see them grow personally through camp. We create an environment that helps youth grow in respect for themselves and who they are.
  • Through risk, taking a chance to do something that might be hard like a Zipline or working in a team.
  • Through social development, working with other people is difficult but is an important skill to be learned through group activities.
  • Communication, respecting yourself means learning how to communicate effectively with those around you about your needs and feelings.
  • Identity, one of the biggest challenges that kids are facing is the challenge of identity. We want to see kids not just have fun on activities, but also grow as we acknowledge the accomplishments that they make and help them understand that they are unique and important.

Respect Others

There is no doubt that youth at school and home get lots of time to work on how they relate to others. At Gardom we want to foster an environment that focuses on how your actions affect others both in a positive and negative way. Our activities are designed with this outcome in mind.
  • Working with others in team building situations makes us consider respect, leadership, flexibility, encouragement, and communication.
  • Eating, sleeping, and doing activities with the same people means learning how to be a positive member of that group and finding your identity, and responsibility to that group.
  • Positive encouragement, accomplishments on the Climbing Wall, or encouraging them through a difficult spot on the High Ropes Course, we create an environment where respecting others is of the utmost importance.

Respect the Environment

There could be no Gardom without the beautiful Gardom Lake and surrounding forest. Teaching kids about the beauty and importance of nature is most easily done by surrounding them with it. Whether going on the lake to see the eagles nest, or watching hundreds of turtles warming on a log, or simply running through the forest during a game. Our goal is to teach kids how to live with respect to the environment.
  • Our many activities are spread through the forest which gets participants into nature and gives them an understanding of the way things work and grow.
  • Seeing living creatures like, deer or the life in our thriving ponds or on the lake gives an understanding of how humans impact the lives of all animals.
  • Being removed from the normal every day and being outside in nature helps to develop a healthy respect for nature, and makes us consider what our responsibility to nature is.

Camp is a place that is fun, and we want to keep it that way. We at Gardom Lake think that camp can also be a place that is challenging, growing, and formative for anyone who sets foot on our site. Let us know how we can be a part of creating good space for your class, group, or team.
