Encounter is for anyone who wants to spend more time in the great outdoors; from the savvy wilderness veteran, to someone who is new to camping. Encounter is your chance to get close to nature and see God from a different perspective. Located in a semi-remote wilderness setting on the Gardom Lake property, Encounter goes back to basics camping with tents and authentic cooking over fires. Experience old camp favorites such as the beach and archery as well as Encounter exclusives like survival skills and shelter building. Depending on the week experience out trips to local treasures such as the Enderby Cliffs and Natural Waterslides.

About Encounter Camps

Encounter camps are themed to give you the experience that fits your interest, from H20 water week to our Aim week, and even our Wilderness Survival weeks, there is an Encounter camp for you. If you love the outdoors, find that you connect with God through nature, or want to try something outside of your comfort zone; Encounter is waiting for you.

Encounter Camps

  • June 29 - July 4, Pre-Teen Survival – Ages 12-14

    Spend the week exploring the outdoors and learning wilderness survival skills like fire building and shelter building. Experience various camp activities, as well as out-trips.

  • July 6 - 11, Encounter Aim - Ages 13-16

    This camp is all about paintball, re-ball, and laser tag! Campers can expect to spend lots of time based around these three activities. Other Encounter classics and activities will also be offered such as pellet guns, archery, and axe/knife throwing.

  • July 13 - 18, Boys Adventure – Ages 10-12

    Built to let boys be boys. Spend the week exploring the outdoors and learning wilderness survival skills like fire building and shelter building. Experience various camp activities, as well as out-trips.

  • July 20 - 23, Encounter 101 – Ages 10-12

    Come try out a bit of everything that Encounter has to offer! This camp is packed with outdoor experiences like fire building and shelter building, as well as tons of games and activities.

  • July 27 - August 1, Encounter Ascend – Ages 13–16

    Welcome to a camp focused on rock climbing. This week campers will climb Gardom Lake's Climbing Wall, an indoor sport climbing wall, and a local rock face. This camp is great for the beginner who wants to learn more about rock climbing, or the expert who is looking to sharpen their skills. Encounter classics such as games, activities and cooking over fires will also be included in this packed camp.

  • August 3 - 8, Teen Trek – Ages 13-16

    Explore the North Okanagan and Shuswap with us this week. Experience day trips to various hiking spots and other locations around the area. Perfect for both the first-timer or experienced hiker.

  • August 10 - 15, H2O ADVENTURE – Ages 13-16

    Everything water! White water rafting, river floats, the natural water slides, and more! Other games and activities will also be included in this adventurous week.

  • August 17 - 22, GIRLS ADVENTURE – Ages 11–13

    This is a time for the girls to get together and connect through outdoor adventures. Activities such as archery, pellet guns, and knife throwing will be offered. Experience horseback riding, time at the beach, cooking over a fire, and more.

Info for Campers

New Pickup Time! → 2:00 pm Friday*

*Squirt Camp → 1:30 pm Wednesday

*PeeWee Camp → 4:00 pm Friday

Camp registration runs from 4:00 – 4:30 pm on Sunday. Camp ends at 2:00 pm on Friday. We encourage parents to ask our leaders about the week and check out our highlights on social media. 

Please do not arrive more than 30 min prior to registration. There is no advantage to arriving early, as all the staff will be in a meeting making last minute preparations. Campers need to be accompanied by a parent or another adult as they register.

What to Bring

  • Sleeping bag & pillow
  • Bible (if you have one)
  • Clothing for rain & sun
  • Toiletries & P.J.’s
  • Bathing suit & towel
  • Rainwear
  • 2 pairs of running shoes (close-toed shoes are required for our activities)
  • Sandals or crocs
  • Bug repellent, sunscreen
  • Hat
  • Water bottle!
  • We will be doing a weekly water fight, so feel free to bring a water/squirt gun from home.      

No Theme Meals at Encounter

Leave at Home

  • Electronic games
  • Cell phones, mp3 players and iPods, iThis or iThat
  • Gum or sunflower seeds
  • Food (except for medical reasons)
  • Pocket knives
  • Please only bring modest bathing suits (guys and girls)

Our Camp Store will be open at registration time and after the closing program. We have camp souvenirs and clothing, with items starting at $2. Get a keychain, t-shirt, hoodie and more!

Note about White Water Rafting: If you have signed up for White Water Rafting, you must download and sign our waiver form. Waivers are to be filled out by a parent/guardian and submitted before or at the time of registration. Campers cannot participate without a signed waiver.

Note about Paintball: If you have signed up for Paintball, you must download and sign our waiver form. Waivers are to be filled out by a parent/guardian and submitted before or at the time of registration. Campers cannot participate without a signed waiver.
